Broke my 1200

Some models have one at the engine plus one at the trans. The ball bushing should move smoothly but not be loose.

The 5/8" steel ball is unrelated to the ball bushing as they serve different purposes. The ball bushings purpose is to keep the driveshaft running true about its center line. The 5/8" steel ball is there to keep the driveshaft from moving aft along its length when you depress the clutch pedal.

Jeff, as you have both new driveshafts and new ball bushings at hand, would you be able to take some measurements on the driveshaft OD and the ball bushing ID so we could get a better understanding of what would be considered acceptable tolerances?

Driveshaft material is 5/8" and measures between .622 to .625 ( usually comes in at .623/.624 ) The ID of the ball bushing is .625
( I use 4140 for driveshafts. If I were to purchase ground to size 4140P , the prices would jump excessively as that material is three times as expensive )

It's usually the brass/bronze ball bushing that wears on the outside where it fits into the 1.125 ( 1-1/8" ) steel band.

However if it gets extremely dirty, it will wear any or all of the components.

I ended up spending more time replacing the floor of my trailer than I would have liked, so the 1200 is likely delayed a week or two.

But I'll report back with my findings.
