105 Tom:

Really enjoyed and learned from your teardown! Maple Hunter does a-la-carte their products...and actually have quite a few decals and additional lines that are not even on their web site but are available for the asking. E-mail Carrie....she's super. They have even created original decals with a head-on pic and dimensions for me. I suspect that you are looking at $10. for the tunnel cover decal.

I can't tell you how many of those moments I have had. But we all learn something from this site.

The tractor looks awesome. Nice work.

I'm on the fence about the coolant heater. I may do that next.

Josh, I learned something again. My 1512 was prolly built on the first day of production as being the 35th tractor built in 1985. When was your machine built Tom and does anyone know when they switched to the textured style decals like Tom has? Does anyone make the 882 and this style of decals yet?
Here are the decal on my 882 nearest and my 1512 in the middle.

You Diesel dog,Oak...you got three of em'

my 1211 has the textured ones, but the 782 and the 1210 do not,and both are early production models.

Looking good there Tom
I know Cub Cadet had a heater kit that attaches to the radiator hose ,might have been a little easier.

Todd, mine was built on February 18th 1986. Today is it's birthday.

I have a video that I'm trying to get uploaded to photobucket but I need to trim it to 500MB. Still trying to figure out how. When I do, I'll post it up.

Todd,
My 1512 is a later one like Tom's and has the heat shield as well. I think the later ones came with those factory. A dealer or PO may have slotted the side panels as well. CC had a service bulletin recommending the side slots IIRC. Is your's earlier with the decals like an 882?
I'm gonna say mine is completely stock as delivered. The paint fade and battery acid staining on the inside and outside of the side panels suggests that these panels were original to the tractor. The slots definitely look to be punched out from the factory and not a freehand attempt from a dealer...

Todd,
You do have an early one. Maple Hunter does make the 882 decals. Haven't been on their website in awhile, but they weren't listed last time I was there. But a buddy of mine got a set from them. He was also gonna have them make the decal on the fuel filter, in both languages. I sent him a high def pic of one of mine for the repro. Haven't seen it yet.

Three diesels or three 1512's? We all know Todd has a handful more than 3 smokers.

Tom, they may be factory panels. I'm going to have to look at mine and see if they are slotted. CRS, I guess. I do know the 1572 and 1772 are slotted. And the 782D is not. Can't remember on the 1512. Looking forward to the video.

Finally ventured out into the shed to check on the hibernating cubs.

Tom, you are correct in saying your side panels are factory. Mine are slotted as well and are original to the tractor. Also a pic of the firewall. Sorry for the awful pics, but too muddy to pull her out into the sunlight.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
