crossing crown; sorry, i did not see your post....i broke off the plastic knob on the fuel shutoff and threaded the end of the plunger stud...then i took an old drain stem (the piece off of a sink that opens and closes the drain) and threaded that also, then joined the 2 with a coupling nut...basically it added an extra 2" or so and had a chrome knob...the lights sit on a "shelf" made from .125"x4" stainless that is sandwiched between the hinge for the upper grille assembly and the lower cast housing..the pot metal muffler box is gone and a stainless .25"x1" brace holds the can..much sturdier....and thank you much for the compliments!!!

and here is the FINAL TOUCH!!! thank you to olds455 for finally finding me this tag that ive been harping about...cleaned it up with some steel wool, a toothpick and black paint and then multiple coats of clear...(long story about an outsourced sandblasting job that ruined the original
) i had to do a spray patch on the yellow which i couldnt believe came out alright considering i shot the frame almost a year ago, and the fact its 1° degree out..thankyou heatlamps...anyways,i put it on with some brass rivets, and even though it was an early '75 the tag is from '77...goes with the 1" spindles i guess....anyways, enough of my rambling, thank you all very much, it was and is alot of fun....included a couple pics of how i found her too, and i do have a bunch of the "process", the grit, the grime, if anyone is interested.....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
