Well I surveyed the situation today. And things could be much worst, and a whole lot better also.
Threaded a bolt in each of the attachment holes, and they tightened up. I put as much "mustard" on them as I could, and no slippage. Go figure...
This ole girl was rode hard. This is why the patch was welded on the outside. Took one hell of a break. This is prolly why the trans mount was broke also.
Talked with the machinist today that fixed the started mount on my KT in the 782, and he said he could fix it.So I'll have him weld up the mount, after I clean it better.
I see in the frame, two holes are wallowed out from being loose would be my guess. But why the frame and not the diff? Don't like the looks of those two "supports" he made and welded on. Any ideas? Weld the holes shut and re-drill? (last picture)Here's where I left off...

In defense of the PO, at least he used lock nuts on the inside!
There was a guy on here that said "They can't all be turn key" I don't recall who that was offhand...
Thanks Terry. But there's only one Master around here, and it ain't me. I will be putting braces on for some extra support, and piece of mind...

Todd

Don't even bother with trying to weld the front mount, just slap a set of Xtreme GT braces on it and relax.

Cool

What was the po doing with that tractor? How do you bust the frame like that? Great job as always Todd.

+1 on what Sam said. Slap some rear braces on that sucker and forget about it.

Somebody said maybe it had a loader on it at one time. I'm thinking that it the way the frame got like that. I can't think of another reason.

Lack of regular maintenance. Rear end bolts came loose and it was ran that way until the frame cracked. I've seen some tractors broke like that. Some people just beat the heck out of their machines. Rough terrain at fast speeds, slamming the hydro around like you stole it. It can than happen.

Thanks Sam, but I picked some up for the 782 when I got them for my 1872. Never did put them on, figured I'd use them on something in the future, seems the future is here now.

Found another crack in the opposite side. Ground a groove in it and welded. "Should hold". My weld looks like bird poop.
JB welded the mount back on. I know it's not a fix, but wanted it on long enough to get the diff back in the tractor.
Thoughts on this patch the PO put on. Isn't it going to be in the way when I mount the braces? The braces are down in the basement, and no one is here to get them so I can see if it will be. I'm thinking it's in the way...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
