I really like the home brew projects. This front mount boom project is pretty cool.
I think the craftsmanship speaks for itself. I'm sure this it not 52'F-3's first rodeo.
Common sense will dictate what he can do with his hoist.

I did a similar project last winter, except I did a rear mount. Here are some pictures of my rig.

Seems like a good trade off. I can put five Cubs where one car sat and there are no titles or license to fool with!

looks very nice, i'm guessing its very stable with those outrigger wheels.

so I was driving around today, over mild terrain and had no problems, no lifting a tire/loosing traction etc....
the steering is super easy, (1 finger) and the hoist worked great hydraulically. but my steering box (orbital valve) started leaking (ebay purchase).... so I parked and started making my wheel weights

i lined wheels with a towel and tarp. cut 1/4" thick wood circles and bolted to center section of wheels with threaded rods... made the rings and poured in 80lbs of concrete and about 20lbs of old nuts and bolts. i will weight later, but i'm guessing 50lbs each.

Rex seemed to approve

so I was looking for something to test with and found this complete Chevy inline-6. probably a little heavy for 1st test, but no worries (I was careful) I got out of my shed and moved to garage.

so the boom is extended 1/2 way out (future plan is to make it hydraulically telescope in/out)

the steering works great, very easy to turn (hauling engine) but the rear wheels "feel" light when driving. Was only able to lift/spin a rear tire when I purposely drove at an angle over a speed bump type obstacle.

I want to make it more stable, thinking about more or different heavier weights, split the brakes to cutting brakes (so I can stop a spinning tire and send power to the tire with traction)

does anyone make locking differential for these?

anyway, more testing videos to follow......

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
