Still working on this as I get the time. I pulled the mule drive completely apart and have most of it painted. Should be getting close to reassembly, I hope.

I have a question on the decals.

I ordered these for the front side of the deck.

I can't find the silver colored round decal over near the discharge side and I didn't get a good pic when I removed it. It is kind of hard to see in this pic. Does anyone make that decal and the one that goes on the end opposite of the discharge?

I also have a question on the casters. What are the front caster mounting assembly and caster bracket plated with? I'm thinking of getting them re-plated but I'm not sure what they used. It also looks like they used the same stuff on the hangers and pins.

Mine look like zinc. Hard to tell cause of the age and oxidizing.

I think mine are zinc, possible galvanized (but I doubt it). If I have the decal in question I'll try to post a pic. I have (supposedly) the one for the mule drive that tells how to adjust the pulleys--if I can figure out what I did with it.

Todd,

My brackets and pins were zinc plated.

The only decals I could find were the triangular Danger decals... best I remember that is the only decals that were on mine..

Good luck with it.. those are some real grass cutting beasts when they are right!!

Todd...save your money on the castors....unless u have an inside source for plating. Hit them with that zinc galvanizing spray bomb. I think that looks pretty factory if u ask me

Todd, this is where I got my hardware done for the original. I thought it was reasonable, compared to the locals.

Thanks for the info guys. Dag, I was thinking about the spray bomb's. We sometimes use those at work when rebuilding a cooling tower fan. I'll look into that.

Todd, thanks for the link. I may see what they can do......I know I need to
I was also looking at something like this to use.
http://www.caswellplating.com/platin...ting-kits.html

It looks like on mine there is a slight gold color probably from some type of cadmium plating.

That is the round decal I need. Does anyone make those? Maybe I'll call Maple Hunter and see if they can.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
