Added new taillights, installed some new 4ga battery cables I made up, replaced the hydraulic hoses and tuned up the steering box. POR15-ed the battery box. Late 90s early 2000s F150 door bumpers work great as seat bumpers.

That's cool! I know exactly where that is. Been there many times as a kid when they were an IH dealer. They are now a Cub Cadet dealer.

Scored some side panels off ePay, I had some interweb money to spend. I got the wing bolts for the rear but what held the front of the panels?

Scored a used 1650 muffler, and built a muffler crutch to help prevent the mount from breaking out again.

There is a spring that goes between the 2 panels.

From side to side? Long like a old school screen door spring?

Yes, above the muffler/head there should be a ring on the top edge of each panel. A long spring connects the loops. I had a short spring lying around, so I looped 14ga steel wire on one panel as an extension and it works fine. Do you have the bottoms of the panels hooked into the frame rails? Even without the spring mine sit tighter than that on the front.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
