Took the clutch out, some of the parts are worn At least the clutch shaft is in pretty good shape. I will make some new pins for the driver and the yoke.TO bearing will be replaced and a newer clutch disc.

I'd say they got their money's worth out of that clutch. You'd think they woulda looked into that banging/screeching noise and the fact the clutch wasn't working very well. Gotta love some PO's, geesh!

It is what it is....

I got a little free time today to remove the 2 ball bushings. The one on the rear coupler came out easy, pressed in a new one, the front was a little more involved, cut a slot next to the splice that is from the factory, it closes up when it is installed, and was able to pry the old one out.Cut it with a new tool I made out of a hacksaw blade.
These bushings are made by triange mfg.$5 a piece from them,$25 from cub cadet and those are stamped triangle, oshkosh wi. on them. Go figure.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
