Default Tighten up 1863 steering

I haven't done anything on the Cub lately, been working on my cart. This morning I tightened up the steering. When I got this it had about 30 degrees of slop in the steering wheel. I tightened the adjuster in the bottom of the column until it stopped with a large screwdriver, and backed off to the next cotter pin slot. That helped some but turning the follower pin in 1/4 turn made the most difference. I put 30 shots of grease in it an test drove it, much better. I still have some slop in the helm joints, especially the one next to the column. But I probably won't change them right now. If I did something wrong let me know.

Taking a Pepsi break while working on the 1864. Thought I had a front seal leaking on me but looks like the oil filter was loose. Doing a oil change and swapping electric pto's out. The current one won't turn on after it gets warm. Good thing I have a spare sitting here.

I need to do some searching and see about cleaning the plastic on it. It has tons of grass and oil in the engine compartment that needs cleaning. got to get the grass cut so I can get back to the O's.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
