I'm not sure. I typed in k301 carburetor on Ebay and bought the 1st one. I put my original carb back in. Seem to start up better but still have a little long cranks but runs smoother.

Another thing to cross my mind, what about spark plug gap issue? I have it set at .025 per manual. Should I try increase it or close it? I'm running Champion plug. I have a printed service manual from IH.

Kohler service manual says to have sparkplug gap set at .035 for battery ignition engines. .025 for magneto ignition. I've had better success running Autolite sparkplugs.

The IH manual is wrong if it says .025 for battery ingition systems.

I'll have to double check my manual. I might have read it wrong. What is the part number for the auto lite spark plug? I'd like to buy it local tomorrow.

So, I gotta run .035 gap. Changing brand of plug might solve my issue. I hope.

I've only got 65 + years experience fooling with engines,
so take this with a grain of salt.
Been my findings that
a gap of .025-.035 and any manufacture of plug will work in a good engine.
if it is worn out, or other problems, it will be because of something other than the gap or
the manufacture of plug,--- within reason.

If an engine is oil fouling them, go hotter to get you by.
if a weak ign system, a closer gap might get you by.
Points rarely "wear out" but they do pit or become corroded/dirty.
setting points near .020 will get you running.
static method gets you closer.
A bad condenser will usually idle fine, but not rev up.
of course if it is shorted, you will not have spark.
hope this helps.
I have gotten bad "new parts" and it bit me in the ass every time.
Assume nothing.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
