It was a cold night but I attempted to hook up the snow blower. Many issues, missing bolts, stuff out of alignment and other issues. Looks like I will be shoveling tomorrow. and I have possibly tracked down the tensioner for the blower. Free of charge just need to go get it. Even though I may not need it I would prefer to have it.

Bolts missing where?
You never stated what tensioner parts were missing.
What is out of alignment? The pulley?

Pully is there. The blower can be adjusted for wide or narrow frame. There are 4 bolts, 2 on either side of the pulley, I was missing 2 and it need to be adjusted. Missing pins also. Also the rod to bring the blower up and down that goes to the manual lift arm appears to be too short. Need to make it longer. It will not go to the ground, the blower will remain 3" off the ground. But it was midnight so I called it a night. More to come tomorrow.

I don't know if you have tractor supply in NY but they have an awesome selection of implement belts, all my needs were covered for $15- $20 a belt.
I've also had good luck with ebay, got a couple belts there for $10 each.

good luck with the new toy! looks like a great deal of fun.

Those four bolts, make sure each one has a spacer on it that rides in the slots in the front plate. The spacers keep the bolts from being tightened to the point that they squeeze the front, center, and rear plates together. The front plate should be free to move up and down which allows you to increase or decrease your belt tension.

If you havn't already, you better take a good look at the snow THROWER operator's manual in the technical section here...

Unfortunately, one of the things missing in the manuals is the CPE-2 section for snow throwers.

Here's a complete CPE-2 (from I think 1980) that has all the sections. Snowthrowers are in section F. It will tell you all the fasteners, sizes and quantities you'll need for a given part.

Also, grab the service manual for your cub from the manuals section. In the back of it, there is a section on implements that goes over the snowthrowers (and decks and tillers).

I know the older service manuals don't go into much detail (mostly just deal with the gearbox), but the 82 series service manual is pretty comprehensive on snowthrower service.

I will need the spacers, I'm missing 2 spacers and 1 square head bolt. And I do have the original belt, snow blower hasn't been used in 25 years. Just want to make sure I get a back up for obvious reasons. Gonna have to oil up the chain also.

If the chain is stiff, just replace it. It's just #30 (IIRC) roller chain. Nothing special. You can get it at most any farm store. Make sure to get a half link and master link.

As a note, when you adjust the chain tension, be sure to roll the impeller by hand before tightening the adjustment. The sprocket isn't usually perfectly centered on the impeller, so the chain tends to have tight spots. It won't be real tight, but it will be fine. Oil it daily with use when you give it it's daily grease.

I don't know if the spacers are still available. If not, or they are expensive, you can copy the ones you have.

P/n 490-125-R1 looks to be NLA.

Should be a pretty easy fab though.

Did some snow blowing today. Got a new belt, got some missing bolts, had to make some bushings. Had to make a bracket for the lift. Worked great!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
