Thanks Eric,

I did a little bit of work today on it, got it running, no smoke or funny noises.
I removed the pull starter yesterday and picked up some new screws for it as it was missing some. I am not sure why the mounting holes in the starter are almost 5/16 in dia.and the screws are 10 - 24 . maybe I can get some spacers to make up the difference.
I also pulled the clutch to change the wrong belt that the po put on there. It has been worked on and the front bearing and locking collar are new. Looks like he or someone else turned down the first 2" of the shaft prolly cause it was damaged, and pressed on a new brass bushing.
First picture is a video of it running, and so is the second.

Looking great Lew, all the little things getting fixed add up. Great to see you bringing one back the right way as usual, good job.

Sounds like it's missing.

Just kidding. Really, it sounded good! Started quick too, but if your like me, so as not to look like a fool, you started it before shooting a vid. You gonna leave the Bushing on the shaft?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
