The dash is yellow on the 72. The 73 had the white dash.

Cool

No 72 came with a white dash,...it was yellow. The 73 had the white dash, and a decal change from the 72 on the hood, was about all the big difference between the two model tractors!

Good work on the 72!

I like the wide frames, so I think I'd be looking for an 82 series next.

Just wanted to report on my experience with Red Kote. My 72's fuel tank was weeping though one of the seams, not dripping, but a strong fuel smell (and wrinkled paint on the engine cowlings.) I bought a can of Red Kote from O'Reilly's auto parts, ($27) and applied it per instructions to the inside of the tank. It seems to have worked great. Not a hint of any sort of leak now, a week after it was fueled up. So just in case you have a leaking fuel tank, this stuff seems to work.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
