Eric received a package yesterday. It was from Patton Acres. In it was the throttle and cable for the "O" and a nearly impossible to find piece for the clutch. We dug in and mounted the throttle and cable on the tractor. Since I had already changed the oil and cleaned the air filter we just had to fire it up. As you may recall the clutch has been removed. It fired right up but we still had a rattly noise. We finally found the source. The muffler is one of those round screw on types and looks fairly good on the outside but apparently the insides are just banging around inside and making the odd rattling noise. Oh well we are considering a pipe for the exhaust anyway but it was a relief to find it was something so easily taken care of.

A couple more boxes arrived Friday. We now have just about all we need to totally rebuild the clutch and the operating parts for it. We did discover that we cannot find spirol pins locally or have not found a dealer that has any. We ordered them from Cub Cadet as they were available through them. When they get here we will take the clutch assembly apart and do a rebuild. We also received the parts for the rear end, i.e. rear gasket, oil seals, and bushings so that comes next. We did remove the rear plate to drain the tranny fluid and although no watr was present that stuff was thick and yellow in color. It should have been at least motor oil colored or dark at least to my estimation.

Last night we took the S/G off and it is making some not so S/G noises. Gotta get that on line for rebuild too. I swear the POs did not have any grease or oil to keep bearings lubed.

Duke I wish we had a local supplier of such things but a phone search of local folks in a similar business did not produce any of the spirol pins of the correct size we need. In desparation I ordered them from the cadet site. I will not give up on a local supplier but just have not found one yet. There is a Surplus city about 35 miles away that I plan to look through when I am near there.
