Allen, Thanks for the support!
I love those duals on your cub! I would like to do that someday to one of the Cubs too.
I did get to work on the 147R tonight. I finish painted a rear rim white and painted the mounting bracket and shift linkage red.
I had a board meeting to attend for or local Maple syrup producers association and that seriously cut into the time on the 147R.
Hope things are good in Cub land.
I found the article from MattG on the brakes but mine are a little different on the 147, They are riveted. Any idea of the original thickness of the pad material?
Regards,
Chris

Folks,
Went to the local Cub junkyard last night and came home with a parts tractor frame tower and Hydro which was a 127. That should have most of what I need to complete the 147R. That was a trick to unload last night about 10:00 I backed in the sugarhouse and used the electric hoist to lift the carcus off the F250. Then planted it on one of my 4 wheel wood wagons! Lots more work to do to get the parts off, inspected and cleaned and painted. Maybe this 147R will finally come togetther with a lot more work. I am only about 35% complete.
I also picked up a 3 point hitch system and a original Brinley sleve adapter and lift bars for the 147R.
Just got a call from the sandblaster. My parts are done! Darn I just got a much nicer front grill casting last night and may have to clean it up for the 147R. My truck is in the shop today so will pick up the sandblasted parts tomorrow. When It rains it pours!
On the CCFAIR competition I would love to win Best of show on our syrup!
Regard,
Chris

Thanks to the local Cub parts yard we have a rolling chassis! Now that I have the brakes in place I bolted on the rear ag tires last night. Then I thought about adding weight to them. (Yea I do things backwards a lot)
What are opinions and options for liquid weight in the rear tires? I will do a search too. Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Chris

Default NO pictures :(

Would post pictures but cant figure out how to get them off the darn camera.
Update:
Worked on the 147R fenders, back from sand blasting.
- welded up a rust hole the size of a pea, near the foot pad. Nice to be able to weld on this thicker sheet metal.
- cut new steel and welded in the new bottom for the 'trunk" area, drilled holes and started filling in the seams.
- Straightened and cleaned the lower bracket for the three point hitch and installed it and the rear hitch to the rear end.
- Started to fill pits and sand them smooth.
Rolled the chassis out side to let it breathe a little
- Finished the brakes, had to thread the brake rods about .75 deeper and then cut off the same amount.
-Have the new hydro shift shaft out of the donor Cub and cleaned and ready to go into the 147.
-Took the stripped down tower to the sand blaster along with the better grill support from the 127 donor.
-Had to weld the cross shaft of the mower handle rod at the small pin hole. that was weird.
- Have the steering column out of the donor Cub and from the outside it looks to be in good shape. Needs opened inspected and cleaned.
Off to the Crawford County Fair today to enter Maple and honey then work at the maple booth tonight.
Will try to watch tractor pulls today too
Regards,
Chris

147R updated:
Removed the foot pads from the 127 donor Cub.
Removed the neutral safety switch, maybe it will be a good one. I need to build or find the bracket that activates it.
Cleaned all the 3 point parts and painted them. Should be able to install in a day or so. I took off the original Brinely sticker and plan to re-glue it on later!
Completed welding and filling in the bottom of the 'trunk". Several slight mistakes will be able to be covered with washers
Still have a lot of clean up on the fenders even after sand blasting! Some thin coats of spot putty and or bondo to improve the look.
Pulled apart the steering box from the donor 127 and it looks about 100% better than the original 147 steering box. Cleaned all the parts of old grease. and examined. Is there any way to refurb the end of the cam follower? This one has some flats. Bearings looked good! Its going to be cleaned painted and installed as is. I have to draw the line somewhere.
Do you know a Cub Hydro weights a lot? I wrestled this donor Cub frame and rear end off my small yard wagon only to find one of the cheap wheels collapsed on the wagon. That's why I have a mig.
We keep moving along slowly!
Don't give up on me I was reading how to get the pictures off the camera
We did get a 1 first, 2 seconds and 2 third place ribbons at the fair for honey and syrup!
Regards,
Chris

Chris go my thread, 149 cub resto-mod, and look at post #77. It shows how I trued up my cam follower with a 1/2 drill and an angle grinder. If you have a drill press that would work better, I had to clamp my drill to the table so it would hold still while I ground away at those flat spots.

You need to figure out that camera and get us some pics on here...the suspense is killing us!

Good luck, sounds like your getting a lot done.

Jeff,
That is so funny. I did not see this post till this morning! Yesterday morning I took the spare cam follower and chucked it in the drill press and tried to true it up with a file, and then a hand held grinding wheel. It was working, but too slow.
Chucked the cam follower in the Dewalt cordless and while spinning held it against the spinning side of the bench grinding wheel! After one trial I had it 95% then just tweaked the angle a little and shortened the tip. Worked out Great! Its back in the steering sector and the rework removed most of the slop ta the center position. Great minds think alike!
Here come the pictures! Hang on! Sorry for the delay!
Regards,
Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
