Cadetpuller, you are in the same situation I'm in. Yes, I can drive 3-4 hours round trip to get the correct fluid or have it shipped to me for around $50 a gallon. Messicks has it for $30/gallon + shipping. There are other fluids out there that meet the specs of Hy-Tran but don't have the water gelling capabilities (I don't want that anyhow).

This thread will most likely get locked because this is always a heated debate but I always like to jump in and have some fun.

Just got off the phone with Messicks. The smallest they carry now is 2.5 gallon for $70 plus shipping. Well at least I found someone that carries it and can ship it. Guess its time to break out the wallet..

I'm buying Hy-tran locally for around $30 a gallon.

Cadetpuller, I’m not sure how close you are to Talladega Tractor but I use to buy Hytran by the 5 gallon bucket for $75(10 years ago). They also had many Cub Cadets in a boneyard out back but I see they moved a year or 2 ago. I’ve picked up many goodies there over the years but I don’t get out that way anymore.

I've ran TSC fluid with no issues but my go-to is New Holland Hydraulic Transmission Oil - Premium.

I even sent it and true Hy-Tran samples to Blackstone Laboratories (oil analysis) and they were almost a perfect match. The additives were within a few ppm of each other which I would consider just a small batch to batch difference.

But best bet is to find a NH dealership (closest to me) or I have 2 Hoobers within an hour of me and they sell Hy-Tran.

Just called them and they don't sell Hytran any more.

Is this the Viscosity oil formulation? Where do you get it? Viscosity Oil says no dealers in Iowa

Brudder,
Any Case/IH dealer in Iowa, and there are a bunch of them, will have this stuff, not an issue.

Where are you located in Iowa?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
