got a local small engine/mower shop that sells Kohler parts? Lots of machines of various brands used Kohler engines. That would be quickest way to get parts if they have in stock. If they have to order, then just as quick to order for yourself (and at that point maybe cheaper) from one of our sponsors.
I tend to buy a few of them, along with other common parts when I have to order parts, helps justify shipping costs and I have parts for next time ( I also work on quite a few machines, probably not worth ordering a bunch of extras if this is your only machine)

Amazon, E-bay, sponsors here as mentioned. A Cub Cadet dealer or most local shops that service small engines should have them too. K series motors were used on ALOT of machines.

Figure I'll post what here what I have found so far.

Went out and started looking at it. Turning the key nothing happens, no click nothing.

The starter turns over when 12v is applied, I haven't found the solenoid yet but I haven't dug to far yet.

I have read up on testing the coil and will be doing that once I get some time. As of right now that is where I am at. Any thoughts from the experts?

One other thing that I haven't search yet is it appears that there is constant power even with the key out. No change in volt meter and the lights come on. Is this normal?

With what I was told I'm leaning toward coil, but with the constant power etc wondering if maybe it could be ignition switch?

You are more of an expert than I. And I tried both ways since I wasn't sure if there was a switch there or not.

Does it really have a volt meter? If so it should read zero volts with key off. Otherwise a PO installed it incorrectly.

I also won't claim to be an expert by any means. I will add, however, that in addition to the brake switch, the PTO switch will interrupt the starting circuit. Make sure it is off and the brake pedal is depressed.
