I like this. The ones that don't look the best sometimes work the best.
Yeah, Kinda like me... Old, Ugly and Broken Down... But I do still work pretty good.

Inquiring minds want to know.
The first thing I found was that there was continuity between the S/G side post on the solenoid and the small actuator post on the solenoid, even with the wires removed. So I changed the solenoid and the issue went away. Then I kept noticing a tiny little spark on the "A" terminal of the S/G when the key was turned to the "start" position. I didn't have any new S/G post bushings with me, so I gave the post, wire and all, about a 30 degree turn and that problem went away (I'll replace the bushings the next time I'm there). After that, it would start and run fine every time I turned the key, however, I was only getting about 8.6 volts at the battery with the engine running nearly full throttle. So I took the voltage regulator out, cleaned the points and adjusted it to about 14.6 volts (it was difficult, turn the screw a tiny little bit and it would go from 13.7X to 14.6X) so I opted for the higher (yeah, I know, it's supposed to be 14.2) but after I replaced the cover it settled back to 13.92-3 v and I figured that was close enough.

It has started and ran great ever since.

I have cut our grass there and the grass at the other house there twice each plus driven ONE mile each way between the two places two times in each direction, the oil is right where it should be and still looks as clean as it did before I started.

THAT is my single biggest complaint with mine... It's just "wrong" feeling...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
