I don't really have a problem with Autolite plugs, but I prefer Champion. As for gap, depending on where you look, I've found different gaps. Kohlers site (for a K321) says .30, while others say there Cub manual says .25, and like R Bedell has said in a different post, .35. I just installed a new Champion plug in my 129 with a K321 and gaped it at .25.

I'm curious if you pulled the head on your tractor and found anything with the intake valve as I am having a similar issue with my 124. I have gas puff out the carb when it's turning over.
Last summer, my 124 would only start if full choked and full throttle for 10-30 seconds of cranking (I'd slowly adjust choke down to 1/4 during that time, and then it would start). As of right now, I have adjusted and checked all the things mentioned in posts I could find about this issue EXCEPT taking the head off and looking at the intake valve. I will note that the new plug is dry when I take it out after trying to start but I have installed a new line, changed fuel in tank, cleaned carb. I don't get why there wouldn't be any fuel on the plug. I have sprayed starter fluid in the hole, installed plug and nothing happens. I have a FEL and wasn't able to move any snow this winter ![]() |

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
