Pulled the front axle, cleaned and adjusted the steering box and ordered parts. Starting to think I got the deal of the century on this one. It's starting to look like it hardly got used and was garage kept. I am one very Happy Camper.

I was gonna say, Sam. Not quite where a "restoration" meant a little water, but it doesn't look like a lot of tools would be necessary either!

Lookin' good!

Maybe I will bring my O to Galax when I get started on it, so I can get some of your good luck (God knows I will need it).

Looks good so far, my friend!!

Got a little more done. New axle seals are in. Easy job. Clutch is back together. Now it's time to start painting parts and putting it back together. I'm going to use Dupli-Color rattle can school bus yellow. Gotta order a set of decals from Maple Hunter today. I'll try to get some pics later. I know the drill, pics or it didn't happen.

Looking good. The very first CC I owned was an O. Cut a lot of grass with that O. Had it at a steam show using it to pull my butt buggy around and a fellow approach me about selling it. I shot him a high number, he said let me think about it and took my phone number. The very next day he calls and said I will take it. Every time I see an O either in person or on a forum, I wish I had it back. Maybe some day I will get another one.

Pics of todays progress. You'll notice that it didn't have any paint under the mounting points for the clutch so I'm convinced that this one has never been apart. Anyway primed and painted the underside and clutch. The Dupli-Color dry's FAST. I plan on getting the clutch back in it tomorrow then I can get onto the stuff that will show. First 3 pics are before painting.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
