here's my dad pulling the neighborhood kids around back in the early nineties. he got the "o" around 1976 or so from the original owner. it must have sat in his garage for nearly fifteen yrs before i took it from him. it was covered with the usual dirt and grime. it had the recoil start which wound up getting broke. probably why he let it sit for so long. i still have the engine, but i swapped it out for a good running k181. now i use it for snowplowing and mowing once in awhile. great piece of history to have around.

Great stories and pics!

We had an "O" back in '75-'76 but, dad sold it before I was old enough to realize my obsession.

Hearing from folks who still have their original Originals is pretty cool. Keep 'em coming!

LOL! Yeah, I missed them. Guess I got all caught up in the "big wheels" and didn't look hard enough at what might be lurking in the shadows!.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
