Todd and Allen,
Skim coating these parts to fill in pits is just that, the pits. Makes you wonder whether its worth it? These implements are not going to be show quality. Between the grinding dust, the filler dust, the weld fumes, and paint over spray. Yea I need my own dedicated Cub work shop! I like working on these implements! Having a lot of fun and spending some funds. But am pleased with the results so far.
Put one of the fender skirts in the rust tank tonight. (half round end panel)

Nice to work on things that say "MADE IN USA" or MADE IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA"!!!! Hope I can get some pictures tomorrow.
Regards,
Chris

Thankyou for taking the time to document for us. I too have the same tiller and would like to restore it. Hope to see how it is mounted and operating.

Keep up the good work!

Folks,
Busy with lots of things other than Cub stuff. Picked up 230 lb of beef (1/2). Did some Christmas shopping, and some visiting too!
I did take out one of the side shields and put the other one in. I like the way the old paint in bubbled up and easily removed after 24 hours in the tank.
John,
I have some things to learn too. I did print out the tech manual on OCC for the tiller. Very nice thanks to the folks for taking the time to put this information on here.
Merry Christmas!
Regards,
Chris

Todd, and Folks,
I have had some of these implements setting around behind the sugar house for years. For some reason finding you guys and this forum started to make it all seem doable. I used to really want to start a hobby restoring large tractors and implements. Well these Cubs and implements have really filled the bill for this type of hobby. I may be doing it for a while

The next steps are to take off the inside set of tines from each side of the drive axle. Any tricks besides a hot wrench and BFH?

I assume then I can split the case and get to the guts of this drive unit.

I have lots of sheet metal parts to clean fill prime and paint!

We are supposed to get dumped on tonight or tomorrow, maybe 6-10 inches of the white stuff.

Regards,
Chris

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
