Jason, there is an Original steering column on epay this week (Original steering coulmns are the only thing that will work in an Original)... The guy says it's "rebuilt" not sure what rebuilt means to him but he has 100% feedback. It has no bids and is at $50.00 (not a bad price). The coulmn only has two days and 19 hours to go, you might want to take a look.

Grille emblem is some sort of cast aluminum or pot metal, not sure which. The sides are white. Chrome ones are correct for 82 series tractors.

That's right Jason. You've got our good buddy Matt G. and me Matt also known as Cub61. By the way, you're very welcome for the pics. Glad I could help out. Sorry to hear about the battery box not being there. I'm pretty sure you could probably find a good used one some where. Or maybe make one. Finding the hood shouldn't be a problem. I remember coming across someone who was selling hoods for the Originals, but I just can't remember who it was. I'll see if I can find him. As for the Cresent shaped slot, I might be wrong on this one, but I think it's to adjust the steering or it has something to do with the steering. But like I said, I might be wrong on that one. One more thing, the 8hp engine is coming along just fine. I should have the OL' Girl running again real soon. Can't wait to start breaking land again with the OL' Girl. Take care good buddy!!!!

MATT

Matt,
When you get a chance, could you please, take a picture of the underside, where the steering column hooks up???Im intrested in the steering column because I dont have one!! mine was a cobbled home made one,Some one actually welded a plate over the opening and welded a pipe to that they had a solid piece of 1 inch bar stock running through it the steering wheel welded to one side and some sort ot t fitting on the under side!!Got that all cut off besides the solid plate Ill have to grind off.

You DONT have to go out tonight and get the pics its getting late, just when you get a chance

Thanks alot sir
Jason

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
