As I mentioned earlier in the thread, the 82 series does not need a lift block, just a proper clevis pin.

How'd you guys let this thread go on 3 pages ![]() To be fair, when I first thought to put a sleeve hitch on my 782 I assumed I needed a lift block too until I took the tunnel cover off.

It's not a lift block, it's to replace the hyd cyl to rockshaft pin so there is no intereference between the head of the original pin and the lift bar. I went to an old timey Cadet dealer nearby yesterday and he knew what I meant, showed me in his parts book, and said he can get one for me by next week, the warehouse has some in stock.
What I suspect you may have is a cut down lift bar like those shown below for comparison. Note how little metal is left between the wall of the hole and the end of the bar. If you're going to use down pressure on an implement that will put a lot of pressure on that thin wall because downward pressure is accomplished by pulling on the bar. Will it hold up? Maybe but if there wasn't any concern at IH, why make that part? #12 - Pin Assy, Lift, 703-0176

After getting my hands on one of those pins, finding out it doesn't fit my Cadet, and doing a bunch of research and talking to an old timey dealer here's the findings:
That piece is used after serial number 678912. It seems IH made a production change at that serial number. Prior to that part num IH-144650-C2 was used. After that part num 703-0176 was used. Compare the two pins below and you'll see IH went to a heavier, thicker pin. I have also posted a photo of how the original pin interferes with my liftbar. So, apparently later production and repro bars are made to fit the later pin design which leaves me with my original problem, how to eliminate the interference with that bloody pin, either cut down the end of the bar or have a special pin made. Time for a beer. ![]()

Thanks, I've already been in touch with him. Having wasted $40 on a part I can't use I'm reluctant to get involved in having a custom part made when the alternative is too just cut down the lift bar which is probably what I should have done in the first place.
Since IH didn't have the forethought to include all the changes at the serial number shown above in a single listing you have to scrounge through several listings to discover that the hydraulic cylinder, the rockshaft lift bracket assembly, and that pin all changed. Then apparently there was a change again at serial number 716388. I've seen inconsistencies in manuals before but nothing like this.

I cut down the lift bar and it now clears the pin. I hung the sleeve hitch assembly and as soon as it stops raining I'll hang the rock rake on it and see how she works. Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
