I understand the multiple coats of primer or the concept behind it, since I want my # 109 to look better than it is but not a show thing. I guess since my hood, nose is almost all primer anyway I'll go a bit further & wet sand it once or twice? Upon further inspection I can see that on the finish coat that there will be some of those flaws mentioned that will show up. So since the hood/nose will be a focal point of the machine I'll spiff it up a bit.

My intent of buying this machine was not to have a end result to be of show quality, just to look better than the condition when I bought it. Have fun in taking it apart, keeps me busy & it's fun.

Also my wife thinks it looks a-bit rough. Gotta keep'em happy ya know.

I know what you're saying... This thing looked pretty good when I got it. Papaglide had re-painted it. I just wanted to have something that I could claimed for myself.

I don't guess I mentioned it, but at first I just took a razor blade and scraped some paint off. I couldn't believe how easy that was. That took it down to the primer, but then I got the aircraft stripper, and that is the stuff to use. Paste it on, wait about 15 minutes, then spray it off.

I think my wife has even became a little surprised and she has taken more interest now. Like I've said before, I'm looking for the "old school" factor. There are some guys around here who's daily drivers are restored old Galaxies, F-100s, Corvair. It's just something really cool. I do plan on using this thing, and using it a lot. Eventually I want to get a 3 point, brinly adapter, and snow blade too.
