Glad you found the I D tag. What are your plans for this new toy?

Well, I washed it to start... Not sure what I want to do with it.. Its not a Cub but I do like it for some reason. Can't put my finger on why I like it LOL.. Just seems like a cool old tractor to me.

Heres a few pics after a quick wash.. Oh. and the PTO works very well. The blades are like new and almost like someone sharpened them just before they put it to rest. The deck is solid as well. All the baffles look nice.

There is a VR under the helm hard to see in pictures.

You're lucky to have a good deck. The ones that show up at my friends shop are all rotten. Mike

What?, did you lose a bet and had to choose between a wheel donkey , or shave your head? Can be the only explanation I can think of.

I think I might donate to one of my employees to take this one home. He really seems to have fallen in love with it.. He has a medium size garden and some grass. Been using a push mower for awhile. He probably has enough grass to make good use of this tractor.

If the tractor does not have a Delco-Remy starter generator...then it has an alternator style with a rectifier/regulator. You cannot flash fields on the rectifier.regulator. If this thing has an old style VR please get a picture of it.

Its solid state, stator under flywheel.. lol you knew that already tho. It had the original VR under inside of helm. Has a date on it of 4/70. I have it out of unit. Will get a picture in the morning. I found a replacement that looks identical pretty much on dbelectric.com. measured voltage off stator was 28volts on both sides. Only getting battery voltage on DC. 12.5 volts.

Thank you for the help

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
