After that ordeal, I'd chuck that thing as far as I could and not look back, lol.

Silicone that rear cover on and get this project done! Forget that gasket.

At this point I just may do that, I think I'm going to wait for that gasket, it's coming either today or tomorrow, I already paid so I'm just going to wait, what's another day.
So ik it says 7 quarts but how do you truly know when it's full? Let's say it has a small leak and someone wants to just add a little oil every so often, how do you check?

It's full when it starts to run out of the fill pug in the rear cover.

I use the tube from a jug of DEF ad a funnel suspended from the seat frame.
That is unless I have the fenders off in which case I take the cover off the transmission case and just dump 7 qts in and button it back up.

The previous owner of my 1450 busted out one of the tapped cones with a too long bolt so I made some studs out of some 3/8" hot dipped galvanized bolts that I had and glued them in with some red lock tite.

Default easy way to fill rear no mess

I use this to fill the rear, no fuss no mess. Just fill a quart oil bottle with oil and pump it in.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
