Now I'm wondering were this discussion is going, starting from gauges, going into fancy light show and now ending in a cigarette lighter....

What's next? A beer holder? A radio? A GPS?

I personally vote for a riffle holder so you can shoot those ?%&$ squirrels who dig holes everywhere.
A radio was on option for the 73...

I'd like to find a radio that doesn't work just for the shell, then I could put in a better speaker and a new radio with Sirius.

I can't tell you how many of those old radios I removed from IH tractors and threw away. They aren't that hard to find.

Yea, this probably should have been called add-ons or options. A radio would be cool, but your neighbors would not be to happy with you. A buddy of mine had air horns on a wheelhorse and almost burned the tractor down.

You may have remove many Motorola or Bendix radio from old IH tractor Jon but I wonder how many 407 181 R1 AM radio your ever get your hands on and how many you can find today. Find one and if Sir Lancelot or Olds don't buy it I take it! (No need to be in working order)

PS: Notice the hinges hatch cover exclusive to this model.

Oldskull, they sold them at every IH dealer, and a lot of farmers added them to their machines. The radio's themselves are not rare at all. I'm not so sure there isn't one on a 3 wheeler at the farm that still works. I'll look this week and see.

FWIW, there where several radios that were badged with the IH emblem, and sold through the dealer network. I'm telling you, they are nothing special other than they had IH emblems on them.

I've seen '66 series tractors and combines with the (this one is rare) optional 8 track player installed in them. Some even still worked. (I don't know if the 8 track player did, but the radio's did.)

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
