Your "new" O looks pretty good

I like the '64SS too. My Dad purchased a Bronze SS with a buckskin interior brand new back in '64 ( 283 auto ). He traded it in two years later on a '66 Chevelle convertible. ( traded it in a Friday night and they had close to a dozen people look at on Saturday. the next Monday it had a new owner )

Your "O" looks good, congrats. I would leave it, maybe do something with the hood to get some decals on it, call it good.
Is there a little something extra on the fender pan, or is it another one of my optical delusions?

I'm thinking that the fenders and air cleaner are from a 73.

I know the air cleaner isn't correct but I have the oil bath for it. Fenders? Not sure but he has had it since 1977 and the ol boy would have told me if he swapped them. He was a pretty cool cat. Either way I'm just glad it has fenders

Sure enough, that's what looked different. It's the fenders and mounting plate, cause the "O" 's also don't attach to the axle tubes...
They look good on there though.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
