This took me all of about 2 seconds to find.

https://www.google.com/#q=vacuum+line+car

You can even get it in cool colors.

I've checked a bunch of vacuum lines at auto parts stores. The OD and ID dimensions given rarely seem precise enough to insure a good fit. I've given up online because I can't try it first. I have work arounds tho... I can put the fuel line on the old line stubs, then get a larger vac line to fit over it and clamp it. I'm sure that would work, just looks bad.

I'm just surprised that no one apparently carries this hard plastic vac line apparently used in a lot of old lawn tractors. It's so hard you can't bend it in an arc less than about eight inches or so. There was probably a reason for it, I just don't know what that was. I can't imagine this hard stuff and the more complex fittings would have been cheaper.

Well this has been beaten to death. Sorry but I gave you my best answer. It's your tractor do as you wish.

Good grief. Vacuum line will work. It will fit tight enough.

I'm surprised that you are taking something so incredibly simple and making it so complicated.

I give up. Good luck.

Peace. There was never any intent to beat anything. I had a question about a Cub Cadet vacuum line that is apparently no longer available. Suggestions were kindly made about sources and alternatives, some were good. I'm going to make up or fabricate a vac line I'm sure will work.

However it was not all that simple. The CC line is nowhere identified by CC or any specs/pt numbers given, yet it requires some unusual fittings that are no longer available. Experienced small engine shops in my area were unfamiliar with the line and could offer no alternatives other than trial and error with other fittings and lines. Which is essentially what I'm doing.

Suggestions in this thread were over and over about using ordinary vac tubing... But the fittings were specific only to the hard plastic and you cannot just switch to the new line. Since I cannot imagine I am the only person who may have a problem with this hard line, I posted why certain lines wouldn't work, and what I was doing. I thought that was what this forum was for.

But I'll consider the thread dead now.

Just looked a little bit, partstree has that part as #42 on their diagram as vacuum line, and not available. But it's a Briggs part yes? On a Briggs engine? Yes? CC3185 yes?

Type the Briggs part number in, it's BS-393815 BRIGGS HOSE-VACUUM 393815 Briggs & Stratton Engine Parts and eBay sells it.

I may not be the brightest Christmas light sometimes, but am I missing something? It's $11.80 and is available on eBay and probably lots of other places like local small engine shops. What's the question again? Are we talking vacuum line on a Briggs engine or discussing the Higgs Bosun?

DKCDKC, I've never seen this exact tubing on anything other than the Cub Cadet 3000 series tractors so that is probably why you wont find it anywhere else. I'm pretty sure Rich Patton should have some.

Shotgun

I found that also but I don't think that is the line the OP is talking about. Pretty sure that hose is for the fuel pump.

To the OP how about posting a pic of the ends of the hose your talking about.

John Deere used that style of tubing for the actuators on SST16 and SST18 spin steer mowers. These mowers were produced 2001-2002. Owners either loved these little gems or hated them. Try a Deere dealer...maybe they can help you.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
