she can weld. She put me in charge of the project, because I have a study hall with nothing better to do and I really like cubs. She has an 1811 and a 1610. I got the 1811 running after fixing an electrical problem and the 1610 sat outside forever with the engine taken out. Someone attempted to restore it and lost interest. The engine is all apart. The small engines class was supposed to fix them, but they never got time. So now she put me in charge of her tractors. Here's a video of the 1811 in action. I am not he one driving it like a maniac, that was a classmate.

OK, I'm going out on a limb on this one. Can the shell be patched, probably, should you probably not. Maybe just maybe this teacher wants to see just how much talent you have so she is giving you a tough one. I'm only going by the pics you posted so here goes. Cut it back till you find something that has enough meat to work with. Roll a new piece of steel and fit it in then tack it in place. Turn the heat down low enough that you don't just blow holes in it. Go slow with plenty of small welds then clean up and weld it solid but you'll still need to keep the heat down low. Your basically welding a rusted screen. Good luck.

Thank you for the advise, but I am thinking I will just swap out the needed parts into the lt shell. You can't see it in the pic, but the other side of the deck is pretty rotten and the round metal is worn through in small cracks. apparently, someone hit a rock and that is what caused that section to let go
