it looks like the pedal return spring, and that is on that side...goes through the cotter pin loop on the rockshaft (the brake one) and then to the hydro bracket straight back...see if i can find a pic..

If you look at the pic above,, it does not show...but there is a spring,, one who does what you have told... it works pretty well,, to none that I can compare...Are there supposed to be two??? While the one in the pic is about
8", the one on the right is about a heavy 3"..

Well, its been a few since I posted... But the transplant is complete.. Rear end from a 129 to a 1250.. needed to swap out the carburetor, and fuel tank due to some seal leaks.. But just got her running, and the deck on.. WOW.. my acre done in 30 min or so... So much better than the four it took with a push mower..

Looks good...the spring you have in your hand with the tape measure by it, is the one that goes to the pedal return...or so it looks by the opposite ears...no, i dont think theres supposed to be 2...at least not on my 1250 i know....good job so far...

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
