That tractor is most likely a original Onan 2072. When the new "72" series of supers was released, the 2072 was the first in production - simply adding power steering to the current 1912, 1914. When the 1872 began production the 2072 became Mag 20 powered. From what I have been told the Onan units were only several months production.

It's a factory Onan!
![]() I drove it on the trailer and it seemed to run fine. He says when it's warmer it starts to act up. He was thinking coil but was not willing to buy one. |

I only parted 2 cubs....1 with a cracked frame, and the other....well it had seen better days. I'm not one to part out lots of cubs. FYI
It's going to be a mowing machine. Like many have said, once you mow with a machine equipped with power steering you never want to go back. This is a very true statement. |

Wander why the Cub Cadet parts look up does not show it coming with a Onan? They only show the M20.

Onans are known to have poor sealing around the intake manifold since the are 2 pieces. Seal it up and check the Carb for dirty passages ESP the one in front

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
