![]() Besides..... there isn't a plastic tank that is a direct fit for the 72. While I'm on the subject, you mentioned in one of you vids that you wanted to put a motor like the one in your 1250 into the 72. That IS NOT a direct fit. There are major differences in the wiring and set up of those two engines. If you want a 12 hp, find one out any series older than a QL. Less work that way. |

[QUOTE=J-Mech;249910]You don't have to worry about rust with a steel tank...... As long as you don't put water in it. [QUOTE]
Unless it is a steam engine.

I meant use a steel tank from a 122, 123, etc. If this was my project, I'd source a complete K301, out of a Cub 122, 123, 124, 125, etc. (NF 12hp), from a puller project, along with the gas tank. Your basically building a 124, forward of the tower, so use what IH used and make it easy on yourself. A buddy has a 71 with a K301, and it looks factory. If you don't care, and want to use a plastic tank, I'd cut on the frame, and drop a M12 in there. Heck, a M12, K361 cam and rod, #30 carb, and you'll have a beast!

I think a steel tank would be fine as well. Never had a problem with the ones dad and I used....

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
