im not an expert on ISO mounts: the way you figured to put them in seems right, but the actual rubber parts are definitely different than whats on my 1250...the bottom, or under piece is smaller, and tapered slightly....so if they are the wrong ones, maybe composition is too soft, or who knows...i think personally, im going to try and find something adaptable in polyurethane, if i have to replace them again...i have used energy suspension parts in my trucks and am a BIG FAN...anyways, i hope that you can get it figured out, hate to see a good cub go!!

That is a Quietline tractor. I believe that the newer K series Kohler engines did not have balance gears in them. If the oil dipstick goes straight down from the top of the engine, the engine does not have balance gears in it. If the dipstick is mounted on the side of the engine block, this engine would be designed for balance gears. The side curtain would not fit on the tractor if the dipstick was mounted on the side of the block.
With the vibration problem in the mid-throttle range, and less at idle and WOT, I am going to guess that the problem is in your ISO mounts. I replaced the mounts in my 1250 about a year ago and used genuine Cub Cadet parts. I was told to use the original bolts and leave 1-1 1/2 threads showing on the locknut. If I correctly recall, the instruction sheet says to tighten to 100 1nch-pounds, which, to me, is very tight. I used new grade 8 bolts, locknuts and washers from Caterpillar. Long story short, I tighten one turn at a time on each mount until I cured the vibration problem in my engine, and made the tractor fun to ride. YOur results may vary, but I believe I have four to six threads showing, depending upon which mount. Keep adjusting until you get it the way you want it. Good luck. |

Thanks to everyone for chiming in.It has a straight dip stick and that's grrrreat news that it doesn't have balance gears.I just assumed it did going by what I had read in previous post concerning QL's.I sure did pick a bad time to start this (lol) as everywhere Im calling to get parts is closed for the holidays.Even the online sites haven't returned any emails. One thing I am concerned with though. If one just tightens the ISO mounts till the vidration is acceptable doesn't that kinda defeat the .06-.12 clearance for the snubbers?Im ok with whatever works but just thought I would throw that out there. Thanks again

I finally got the Iso mounts and snubbers ordered.Got them through Parts Tree.Just a little over $100.00 for all of them.3-5 day delivery time. When I get home going to finish with the tear down and get into the steering column. Also ordered new tie rod ends for it and a new axle shaft. Those were gotten off of ebay.I think I may have found a new parts supplier.Pretty cool when you can be 1000 miles from home, have them send you a diagram and pick the parts you want.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
