Yep.
I have sold a few of those non cub 16 hp motors to pullers. They get them to work on a cub cadet. Amazing what a good welder can do.

Sunday I started my K341ASQ in my 1000 for the first time, it purred like a kitten, it will be a monster. It has a Kirk crankshaft balance kit, Kirk built cam, ceramic coated piston, n more. Word to the wise, .010 over pistons are a fortune for these K341s. I've got a 6 pin clutch driver, kevlar clutch, etc in it. I hope to be at a plow day this spring with it. I think when I'm done this thing will have be painted Red.
1806 - got one in my shed, sadly its in poor shape. Play in the crankshaft of the M18, bad clutch, bad creeper, messed up throttle cable, I could go on and on, but it ran and drove nice when I test drove it in the COLD weather last winter. I traded a 125 and 123 for it, my thought was if it runs I'm doing the deal. Well I should have looked a bit closer. I now figure it has survived the worst part of its life, it will be nice again some day! Actually I think it will become a 1800 for I sold the creeper prior to me knowing how rare this model is. |

So it really looks like if I want straight bolt on I'm looking for a 12/14/16 hp k engine unless I want to get creative right? Of these I'm thinking the 12/14 are going to be the easier of the 3 to find. Will any of the QL engines bolt right on? I can live with some hood fab'ing to get one in.

Yes I think you are correct.
The QL Engines (ASQ Engines) don't use the Starter-Generator so you'll probably have to fab your wiring harness. |

Putting a "AQS" engine in well also require doing something about the PTO. Really Garnold, your better off sticking to a "A" engine.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
