Alright, as promised, pics of the 127. Here she is on the back of the truck sitting outside of work. I really do think she's in pretty good cosmetic shape. It almost looks like someone started a restore on this before. That, or the thing has been garage kept and not run much it's whole life.

Quick pic of the right hand side, does that wiring bundle look right to you guys?

This side is the worst part of the ol' girl. I don't know how they manged to get it so dirty but here it is. The choke and throttle cables are in need of a little TLC, they are very stiff and not mounted to anything as it sits right now.

The spark plug. I want to get a new one because it's hard to tell if the spark plug is stripped or the hole is stripped. I do lean towards the hole being stripped, though, as I don't see a whole lot of thread when I look into it

Engine plate

Transmission plate

Dash, a bit faded but all there. You can't really see it in this picture but there is a wear mark where the hydro lever rubbed against the tin

Well, there she is. Honestly, I don't even know where to start. This is my first NF and beyond that, this is my first tractor with this type of ignition. Ugh, what did I get myself into!!

Oh well, it'll be a new challenge for me. My first step is going to be to go more into depth with the basics; make sure that it's got enough, and the right kind, of oil, make sure ALL electrical connections are solid, get the choke and throttle cables situated correctly and loosened up, and give the carb a little TLC. Aside from that, I'm open to any and all suggestions. I'll gladly post progress as I continue with the 127. I'll have a little time tomorrow to work with it, then I have a 4 day weekend starting July 4th so hopefully I'll have a little time to work with her then.

I almost forgot, the accessories!

Here's one of the top side of the blade

And the bottom side. She needs new trip springs and the weld fixed on the sub frame as well. I'm going to try to get a WF sub frame because I'd like to put the blade on the 1050 in the mean time but I don't know where to go for the WF sub frame so I'll just keep an eye online.

And my new 36" De-Thatcher. With all the foliage and shade my back yard gets, this will come in handy in the fall and/or spring, I haven't decided which yet.

I didn't get pics of the chains or my other bonus item: a new hood ornament! I know it's cheesy and little but that kinda thing makes my day! And I needed that, too. When I was using the 1050 to pull this around and do a little work today, she started sputtering when I'd throttle up. Doh!! Guess it's time to clean/check the carb and run a little MMO in the next tank. I'm still deciding if it was a good day to Cub or not!!

Your 127 is in nice shape! With some TLC, you'll have a great tractor for many years.

I think you got a good deal. A few $$$ and a little TLC and you will ride again.

That looks great! My favorite series, the 1X6/7. Did it come with the air cleaner?

As far as the wiring harness goes, it doesn't look terrible- I've seen worse. Check the grounds/connections and make sure they are clean/tight.

Putting a wide frame sub frame on your blade will work, that being said, you might run into an issue with the bracket that the lift rod connects to on the main frame of the blade. That's changeable.

drglinski - no unfortunately it didn't come with the air cleaner

On the plus side, I snugged up a few connections and shell turn over now.

But that still leaves me with my biggest problems - the spark plug is stripped and the cylinder doesn't seem to be moving. So what's the best parts site out there for this machine? It seems as though I need a new head and crank/piston rod? This will be my first time getting into the motor of a CC so I'm asking for help from you guys, what should I do?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.....

I think that if you cut off the brackets on the blades subframe. The ones at the front that connect to the quick attach, then weld them back on the outside of the frame instead of the inside. Then, cut the "pins" out and weld in a solid bar in their place.... So the bar goes across all the way... Then it would fit either tractor.

If that doesn't make sense tell me and I'll explain better. Or if I'm wrong I'll concede.

Don't the arms that slide back into the tractor frame have to be angled up as well?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
