Yea my daughter does that as well I'm sure shed be doing it to the original if it were on all fours. She loves sitting on the mustang acting like she's driving

Well guys did.a.little more.stripping and priming.tonight.and.decided.to pull the steering column apart. It had no slop but was very.difficult to turn. And I found out why. I've noticed these columns or at least this one didn't have the bearings with the plastic holders... Well my "holder" is a little messed up and wasn't acting like a bearing at all. Even had to use the rubber mallet with quite a bit of force to get everything apart. Any ideas on getting a complete overhaul kit for this column or will I be better off getting a new steering setup

Thanks. It will be a little while before its done. With the layoff I gotta watch my penny's pretty close and I'm running out of things.to do that don't cost a.whole lot. Got about 80 left to put into the rearend. Looks like around 100 to do the steering column. Then I need bushings for the front wheels have to rebuild the k161 (again) it has developed a knock which I'm affraid is my own fault. Pretty much all I can do right now is strip and paint.
By the way as far as the foam gasket for the steering goes has anyone had any luck making there own. If so how did it turn out. I'm trying to save myself some coin here and as far as the bearings go in the column it looks to be the same as the 123s bearings for replacements which I have a spare column with good bearings I can rob parts for. Cub is wanting 54 dollars for that foam gasket I can't justify spending that right now

This is a copy of what I emailed to a fellow forum member so I'm just going to cut and paste the info.
![]() This info is for Originals and some parts would be needed to changed for other Ross columns. The cam follower is to long so we need to regrind your old ones. Easy as pie! Chuck them in a 1/2 drill spin them while they grind and they will come out prefect every time! Trying to locate a source for the .3125 steel balls in bulk. Each colum needs 16 balls. This is the cheapest place I can find them at. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cam-Follower...item4ac09833fc In case you have a broken or dented bearing cup you'll need two of these per column. Part number IH-379405 R1 and one IH-376478-R91 |
