Here's my take on the situation:
First of all, if you ask for someone's opinion and experience on something like Hytran, and they give it to you, don't turn around and rake them over the coals for their opinion. If you don't like an answer for something, don't ask. Second of all, I have larger IH and Farmall tractors. In the big tractors, I use the Farm and Fleet equivalent of Hytran cause they take 15-20 gallons of the stuff, $$$$$$$. On my cubs, I buy and use only Hytran from my local IH/Cub Cadet dealer. I feel I'm money ahead by biting the bullet and putting in Hytran and I'm not made of money, either. Most IH dealers have Hytran in bulk containers and if you take your own, clean container, they'll pump you out a gallon or five gallons for a cheaper price than buying the premeasured Hytran. FWIW, my two cents worth and opinion. ![]()

As the old saying goes "you get what you pay for" and I am not made of money either. But I've heard enough from those that have had bad luck with other types of hydraulic fluid in their tractors, and that's enough for me to stick with Hytran.
I pay a little more for parts also from my dealer, than I could get elswere, but it's sure nice to buy local, and help keep their lights on. Because without my dealer nearby, I'd have a long haul for parts.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
