As far as mods, there really aren't much. In my opinion, the 782 was the best designed tractor they built! The only mods I know of would be to add a washer to the trunnion spring to stiffen it up a little bit. It helps keep the transmission at a constant speed. Other than that, they are pretty much the perfect garden tractor. Now, I think of it, power steering would be a awesome upgrade but a bit pricey. Plus it takes some modification to make it work. Or you could find a steering column out of a 1810/1811/1806. The 782 came with what we call a 2 turn column. Basically it take 2 turns of the column to go from one side to the other. The 18xx tractors had a 3 turn column making it easier to steer. Other than that, the 782 was perfect. AJ

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently.
