So I just got in because I ran into a dead end and needed some more help from you guys. The engines flywheel doesn't match up to the hydros driveshaft. Is their another flywheel adapter that they make with a smaller/narrower width? I know they aren't the correct bolts, I was just using those for the picture.

It that's the M18 from the 1806, that flywheel might have to be changed out. On the 782's, there's and adapter that attaches to the flywheel with 4 bolts. What's that on the end/tip of the shaft?

No its a briggs 18hp. It used to have the KT in it. I also have that part you posted. I have parts from the KT and I have an adapter that was also on the flywheel of briggs. I cant seem to get the two parts connected using a combination of the two different engine parts. I was thinking of taking a drill bit and making the holes a little wider then using washers on both sides of the adapter/coupling

Ok, so heres some pictures of the new engine plus the parts from the old engine (kt17 series I) and the new engine. The guy I bought it from said that he had it in a 682. It does show sign of it because the corners of the engine mount do have red on them. But then again I guess that really could mean anything.

Thanks Sam for the advice. I can't really check the diameter because I dont have any precision measuring tools. I did however check with a measuring tape and it is slightly over 2 3/4".

Think I have it figured out for you. Looks like the flex disc for a 582 special will do the job for you. Your engine as near as I can tell came out of a 582 and had the 3 pin clutch driver like most of the gear drive Cubs but the 582 Special used a belt tensioner type clutch. Anyway it looks like you should be able to use a 582 Special flex disk (AKA rag joint) and the 2 bushings to couple your drive shaft to your engine. Part number for the flex disk is 922-3001, the 2 bushings are part number 711-3001 but they are NLA so you will need to see if you can find them from the sponsors at the top of the page. The same part was used on the 482, 582 special,580,1100,1604 and 1606. If you can’t find them maybe someone on the forum can get the dimensions and some pics so you can have them made. Depending on the condition of the ball bushing in the center on the crank shaft that the end of the drive shaft centers in you may or may not need to replace that, if you need a new one it’s part number 941-3004. The area in the red box in the pic is what your looking for items 4, 5 & 7 If this works you owe me. ![]()

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
