Cub Cadet 169 with wheel weights, hydraulic lift, sleeve hitch with original 13 fin 16 HP engine
50" deck, 1A tiller and #2 tiller all for $400. I believe it was a good price so I bite.
BTW, if I would have been there a week earlier he scrapped a snow thrower, plow and smaller deck.

Dude, that is ridiculously cheap. The tractor alone was worth that money. Dang it on the snow thrower.

Nice score!

I really want to know why people are hesitant to talk about money here on OCC. Look, here's what I paid for it, here's what I have into it. What could be better info for someone looking to get into Cubs?

I agree. Being a relatively new cub junkie I'm constantly on the prowl these days and almost ready to get another one in addition to my 127 and hope I gave the right amount for my 127 at $200. Been looking at an O with a balde near me that's been a lawn ornament for years but don't want to offer the wrong $. 400 for all on this thread sounds like a really good deal to me. Congrats

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
