Jude,
I was told the white ones were on a farmall cubs.I have one of them. There is a slight difference in the way the tabs for the lens are attached.I guess when it was installed that is all they had on the shelf.

Thanks Zippy! We'll see how many 72's I come across. This is the first one I've seen in the NE. I drove 7 hours roundtrip to get it and know what ya mean about getting a new tractor. I love looking in the rear view mirror and seeing a cub, especially when it has headlights!! The grote on my 71 was a green yellow color and looked like original paint.

Thanks Lew, was curious about that

Shaner, I sold the 147 to a guy up here who has a 127 and the 124 got dismantled for parts and some of it was scrapped cause it was it such bad shape. The front tires/rims on my 71 are from the 124 Thanks for the compliments!

cub149, lol, I was thinking the same thing! You couldn't see them at all really. The log chain was wrapped around the seat spring a little bit, but besides that the rest was hidden. I thrashed 2 sets of chains last winter cubbin, so its nice to have another good set around. Thanks bud!

Here's a few pics of the 72, one of me in action, one of the tractor sitting on the fresh cut lawn that it just did, and a couple pics of it with the 71.

Those "Pop Drops" are punchings from plate steel from a large punch press. They punch the steel holes instead of drilling them or burning them. Usually used when a large number of holes in a specific pattern are needed.

Nice IH Cub Cadet model 72! What was the build date on this one? On my 72, the serial# is 239718, which was made in march or april of 1968. The 71 serial#184004 was made in jan. of 1967. Nice line up for sure! Thanks for the pictures!

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
