Dave,

Here's a fairly literal rending of a 1650 in those SCUT colors.

Yessir.

I can do a few little edits if you want to tinker, or I can send you the .PSD file.

Kind of like this one, but without the decals or the black tunnel cover:

Well, I picked up a 1450 last night on a good deal. Before you start chuckling and muttering things like "yellow fever" I'll have you know that I have a perfectly good rationale for picking up another Cub. Ask my wife.

But really, this gives me a number of options on the 1650 project. It has the 44A deck that looks very solid, and since mine was stolen from the sandblaster, I could simply keep the deck, get the 1450 running, and sell it without the deck. Or I can wait until I find another deck and keep the better one for the 1650.

More than likely, however, I think I'm going to keep it as the new mower for our cabin up North. My mom has been wanting a real tractor to replace the K-mart brand MTD we've had up there for a long time (she keeps mentioning getting something green, but I'll fix that...) so this 1450 would fit the bill. Then I could sell the MTD and pocket that cash, which would probably mostly pay for the 1450.

In the meantime, it's going to be a great assist on the 1650 project. Any parts that are better on the 1450 will probably get swapped out to the 1650 - like that bent-up fender pan. The one on the 1450 is pretty straight, so I'll use it to save time and work.

And it'll be nice to have a complete tractor sitting nearby during reassembly of the 1650, for when I have one of those moments I can't seem to figure out how something went back together.

And finally, of course - as soon as I get this 1450 running, I'll get to actually DRIVE a Cub! I never did get to drive the 1650, it went straight to tear-down. So I'll probably use the 1450 here at home until the project is done.

Now, just to get it running. I'm going to give the 1450 it's own thread...

FYI no matter where it ends up at it's still yellow fever! Looking forward to your 1450 thread!

Congrats on your 1450 Dave, looking forward to seeing pics of it. Hopefully you can get it up and running without too much fuss and get some seat time in this season.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
