Default Alum. oil pan repair

Westofb, I would be interested in the pan if it is not spoken for. I can fix the hole and keep it for myself or sell it for the shipping to somebody on this forum. Don't mean to hyjack the thread, it's just an offer to this members on this forum.

It doesn't need repaired, unless someone was wanting to remove the helicoil, weld the hole shut and drill and tap it. I am pretty sure the helicoils are just as strong if not stronger than the factory drilled and tapped holes in the aluminum casting. It is offered to Dave, if he finds a cast iron pan and goes that route, then I can do something else with it.

Yep, the heli-coil is stronger than the original tapped hole. Lately I have seen a few aluminum items come with them from the factory.

I've spent hours and hours working with Paintshop Pro X3 to learn how to change colors on a picture. I finally figured it out.

Bryan (scgtguy) has provided me with some pics of his 1450, and I've got it down to where I can select any part of the tractor I want and recolor it. With a click, I can change the color scheme to whatever I want it to be. It's pretty cool.

So that's a hint that I'm considering not going with the stock yellow / white / blue stripe scheme.

I had to get this software figured out, because it's getting close to time to start painting parts before they go back together.

When I restored my first tractor, a '67 Sears Suburban I considered every alternative scheme under the sun, including a red/white combo. A fellow Sears enthusiast gently nudged me back towards the original orange and white and I'm glad I went that way. My 147 and 882 will both get the IH yellow & white.

Just one perspective.

Yeah, I know there'll be no shortage of people who would urge me to stay with standard colors, but I'm really leaning toward changing it. I'll share some pics of what I'm thinking about when I get them cleaned up.

Got any colors in mind? I think we're all open minded about colors as long as its applied correctly. Bottom line is your cub your cash your choice. You have to be happy with it.

My idea is based on my theme of mixing the old and the new.

I like the black and Cub yellow of the new Yanmar cubs, and the idea of making a 1650 fit the modern SCUT category.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
