Front and rear of hood? Yes it works there too.

Larry,
Yes I thought of the door protector strip[ that would work good! Thanks for the idea I might do that.
Clay yes these need a hood forward stop designed that can be added to a hood and not detract from the appearance. The bungee would work. Some tractors have a small cable fastened to the tractor and hood, to limit the motion.
Update on the stack:
After the bee meeting I stopped at the muffler guy to give him some dimensions. He gave me some ideas and suggestions but still needed two weeks to build something. He did not have time to weld it up. He did saw the pieces and expand the one short piece to fit over the half coupling. I got a stainless clamp also. So I bought the parts, brought them home and began gobbing on some stainless weld. Its 2 inch stainless tuning. The bend portion is a cast piece and was a little pricy. But I like the smooth look much better than the ripples from a standard bending machine on just tubing. It was also a much tighter bend which I felt was desirable for a good clean look. I have as much in this as a new muffler! Hope it will work!

I laid out the parts so you could get a idea of the concept prior to welding. The big flat piece I had from a bulk tank. That may be the support off the top of the head? Then I welded it up with the MIG smoothed out the welds, polished a little and put in place for you guys to see.
I do have some concerns vertical portion is not far from the hood. Those new decals look like they could be in danger
I could put in a 45 degree, 1 inch elbow, and come off more towards the air cleaner?
I still have to fab a support plate coming off the head studs and back under the gas tank.
Also some stacks have a 45 degree cut on them what do you think!
The stack is about 18 inchs of vertical straight after the bend. Should put it right about ear height I could shorten it a little?
All ideas are welcome.
I'm pooped.
Regards,
Chris

Wow that turned out nice! I do think it may be to close. The 45 idea sounds like it would help. Also when ever I played with exhaust like that the fitting always end up coming loose at the block. If you could support it off something to help keep it from rotating it might help that. Maybe a piece of flat stock bolted to something and the other end bolted to the U bolt clamp.

edit: Noticed support piece. That probably work.

Nope, I like the height but like you said it may be to close to the hood and may curl the stickers there. I myself don't care for the 45 degree cut but this is your baby.

Nice work Chris. I do think that an angle on the tip looks pretty cool. And if you're up for the extra expense, I think those flappers are pretty trick as well...

I'd guess you will have heat issues with the decal, but I don't know. You could just kind of monitor the heat of it for a bit.

So this is going to be a straight pipe, right? No muffler in there? If the 45 you're talking about to get you away from the decals points it back at you, it's going to be even louder...

Great work on that Chris! Merk uses a muffler wrap on his pipes near the decals. If that's to loud for you slide one of these in there! The price is right too! I love the flappers! I had my 122 set at idle where the flapper would tap on the top of the pipe. I love that sound and tractor look!

Hey Duke that thing is nice good price too. I have used '60s style VW bettle baffles, but never IN the pipe. There was one called a megaphone (funnel shaped) that sounded and looked cool on mini bikes and go-karts.

I got one sitting on my shelf from a older post on here someplace. Not my idea just updating old info.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
