Duke, what do you think I have her for? I got the 100 for almost nothing and knew it would be hard to get on being a standard shift tractor, but it's more the nostalgic thing about just having one. I'm thinking it won't get alot of use, maybe more of a Sunday afternoon ride! Or maybe a complete restoration in the future, and put up on a wall in the shop, but it would be a shame to let it just sit.
I really don't need it for a work horse, I have my pickup with a plow and ATV with a plow and my 1110 with a blower, so I have the snow removal covered. I'm going to put the 125 to work cutting grass along with the 1330 and 1420, so that's covered too.
It's just nice having one more than anything.

I got a PM with the same idea, never thunk of that not looking right now at the tractor. But wondering (don't wonder to far, I'll get lost) if I could make up a linkage and somehow relocate the shifter to the side of the frame? Goofy idea? But the world was founded on some pretty (goofy) ideas.
What do you think? Be gentle now

I got a solution!!! Seems as how your handy with tools,
1: measure about an inch and a half from the curve at the base of the shifter. Cut the shifter.
2: find a 2 inch long steel tube with an ID just larger than the OD of the shifter stub.
3: put the cut off end of the shifter one inch into the tube. Drill a hole through both parts large enough for a spring clip to go through.
4: put a spring clip in to hold peices together.
5; push assembly onto the shifter stub on the transmission.
6: weld it on.

Now, pull out the spring clip, pull out the the shifter handle out of the tube. Now your path is clear for your feet. Once on the wonderful machine, place shifter handle back into the tube, instert spring clip and you enjoy

I hope this makes sense...

Default 100 Shifter Modification

I have a short stick shifter removed from a 582 that PO cut to get his girth on/off the tractor. Would be proud to send it to you free of charge, would make a fine candidate to begin your fabrication. Just let me know and it's yours friend!

Good idea Tyler. I'm up for anything I guess.
I done run out of ideas, so all are appriciated.
Tractor2nv I would be glad to except your offer, if you don't need the shifter. It's worth a try anyway. Forgive me, but will that shifter fit on a 100?
Thanks to everyone

I like Tyler's idea too. To expand on it a little, how about maybe using a heavy duty pneumatic quick connect? Either weld or thread the male end to the lose end of the shifter handle, and the female end to the shifter stub?

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
