I got the one with the Tecumseh running, although not running great yet. It just needed the carb cleaned, and the points sanded, and I changed the oil. I ordered a Chinese carb for it, since I got that and an air cleaner for about the same as just a carb kit would have cost. I figured I would just use the parts form that to rebuild the original carb. I tried putting that new one on first, but I can’t get it to run right. I’ve never had much luck with the cheap carbs on anything, so I wasn’t really expecting much. I have the original carb cleaned, I just have to swap the parts over and put it back on.
I did get it on my 149. As I said earlier, I didn’t get the mounting brackets with them. The bagger frame slides over the rear axle tubes, and I just cut a piece of angle iron to bolt between the tractor hitch and the frame of the bagger. It seems to be holding it solid enough. The PO of this tractor welded an extra bracket onto the hitch, which is actually helping as well. The bagger frame slides right under it. I would still like to find a correct set of mounts, but I think this will work fine for now. Even though it wasn’t running great, I had to try it out. It seems to work alright, but I only ran it long enough to fill the bag once. I’ll get the original carb back on, and hopefully I can use it more this weekend. My only complaint so far is that it’s loud! I can’t even hear the tractor engine over it. I can’t say yet if it’s much better than my 1440 with a non powered bagger. That works ok too, but it does block up easy if the leaves are wet, or if I go to fast.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
