OK, you have an early IH built 782. I'll dig out the diagram and send it to you.

Thank you Rolland for sending those early 782 with M18 wiring drawings. I was able to start up my new to me magnum 18 and after replacing the fuel pump using the one off my old KT17 series II, it started up and ran good. The only thing left is to find how to adjust the air fuel and idle screws on the carburator. Does any one know how to adjust for a starting point on these screws and which one is air/fuel and which is the idle adjusting screw. I'm seeing one that looks like you can grab with your thumb and forefinger and the other needing a flat blade screw driver. I also noticing a screech noise coming from the starter, as I activate the starter when turning the ignition key. My old KT 17 has a newer starter that I think can be used as a replacement.

Yes the KT17 starter is the same as the M18 starter. The engine will need to be raised up to wiggle it out.
Top screw is main (high speed) fuel feed, side screw is for idle. Baseline on the main screw is 2 turns out after LIGHTLY seating the mixture screw, and 1.25 turns for the idle. Then fine tune for best performance and smooth operation AFTER the engine is up to operating temperature. Main screw is adjusted first and then idle. The main screw does affect the idle mixture.

On my carb I see three screws. One small with spring pointing straight up on top of throtle body, and one pointing out at a slight angle with larger screw knurled head and the third smaller sloted head pointing out sideways.

The 2 on the left side are for main & idle fuel/air adjustment.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.
MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
