Give xtream a chance they usually are helpful.
Todays world lacks employees because of free money to stay home.
Do make sure it will bolt to your motor, if it is designed to do so.

This place sells Vangaurds to repower Cubs.
I don't know if they could (or would) help you, might be worth a shot.

I'd be willing to bet the older PTO on the Briggs was original to the KT17 and that's why it had a sleeve to fit the Briggs. If so, then order one for a 682 and reuse the sleeve.

Pulleys that are stated to fit A/B usually mean they are deep enough to accept an "A" belt (1/2") or a "B" belt (5/8")

He mentioned he no longer has the troublesome clutch.
He could have another adaptor sleeve made by a machinist, if a clutch with the correct bore is unavailable.

Cub Cadet is a premium line of outdoor power equipment, established in 1961 as part of International Harvester. During the 1960s, IH initiated an entirely new line of lawn and garden equipment aimed at the owners rural homes with large yards and private gardens. There were a wide variety of Cub Cadet branded and after-market attachments available; including mowers, blades, snow blowers, front loaders, plows, carts, etc. Cub Cadet advertising at that time harped on their thorough testing by "boys - acknowledged by many as the world's worst destructive force!". Cub Cadets became known for their dependability and rugged construction.

MTD Products, Inc. of Cleveland, Ohio purchased the Cub Cadet brand from International Harvester in 1981. Cub Cadet was held as a wholly owned subsidiary for many years following this acquisition, which allowed them to operate independently. Recently, MTD has taken a more aggressive role and integrated Cub Cadet into its other lines of power equipment.
